Minimising Gambling Harm filtered by Chinese
Please note changes to regulations issued under the Gambling Act 2003 impact some of the resources listed below.
The Health Promotion Directorate are coordinating with the Department of Internal Affairs to update Gamble Host resources impacted by the new regulations. These will be made available as they are updated. The Gambling Harm Reference Card – A4 and folded postcard have been reviewed and reflect the updated Signs of Gambling Harm that Class 4 venues need to be aware of.

Our Safer Gambling Aotearoa campaign aims to increase awareness of the early signs of harmful gambling and encourage people to seek help and take positive action early, both for themselves and for others they care about. Safer Gambling Aotearoa encourages people to choose to do something about harmful gambling.
The Health Promotion Directorate promotes these messages at a national level and works with various services around the country to promote these at a local level.

"Spending more on pokies" Wallet leaflet - Chinese (Simplified) (pack of 10)
Our discreet wallet-sized leaflet designed for gamblers that might be experiencing harm has been translated into Chinese.
Venues are legally required to provide information about the odds of winning and the characteristics of problem gambling. These leaflets meet that requirement.
Place in the gambling area for gamblers to pick up or beside the bar – so that staff can hand a copy to gamblers who show signs of harmful gambling. Venues have also reported that leaflets kept in the bathroom (a discreet location) are most likely to be used be patrons.
Comes in a pack of 10 leaflets.

Harm Minimisation Poster "Spending too much" A4 (Chinese - Simplified)
You are legally required to have harm minimisation signage up in your venue that is clearly visible to all players. By displaying at least one of these posters in the gambling area you will meet that requirement. These messages are particularly relevant to gamblers experiencing a high degree of harm. We recommend different versions, as problem gamblers relate to different messages.
Place at least one of these posters up in your gaming area. It is recommended that you also place one in the bathroom, beside an ATM machine and/or near an outside smoking area.

Host legal sign A4 (Chinese - Simplified)
Like with alcohol, this sign is to make gamblers aware of the law. We have translated the legal sign into Chinese as a useful reference for staff interactions with gamblers.
Put a sign up beside the bar (with your existing alcohol signage). You may like to also place it in the entrance to the gambling area.
