Skin cancer prevention and early detection work at Te Hiringa Hauora/Health Promotion Agency aims to increase:
individual knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to manage exposure to ultraviolet radiation that causes damage
environmental and policy support to protect people from ultraviolet radiation that causes harm, including workplaces (eg councils), recreational and sporting organisations, and primary healthcare organisations
the quality and effectiveness of skin cancer prevention and early detection messages.
To achieve these goals, we work opportunistically with media outlets (television, radio, print), councils, workplaces, sports/recreational organisations, community groups, and the skin cancer control sector to both support their work and help deliver consistent messages across New Zealand.
